Josephine Clewlow
Josephine Clewlow is a 21yr old self-taught Grand Prix rider. She moved to the UK from South Africa at the age of 12 with the goal of riding FEl ponies and competing at an international. This was achieved within 18 months. When she outgrew her pony at the age of 14 she partnered with Joey and together they muddled their way along learning new moves until they reached Grand Prix. In 2021 they came double PSG Silver Petplan Champions and in 2024 she won her first Regional title at Advanced Medium Gold riding to Gaynors wonderful composition titled "Joeys Creed". Jo is also a full time student at Staffordshire University studying a Sports Coaching degree and is aiming to complete a PGCE after that. She also works 2 jobs to support her riding. In 2023 Jo was diagnosed with endometriosis and had two surgeries for it. It has been a challenge regaining core strength in the saddle but Joey has always been by her side and gave her confidence when she was feeling weak. Together they have climbed mountains and at 19yrs old Joey is still fit and performing at his absolute best.
